10. Church of Sant Antoni.

Beyond the Sobirà Jewish quarter lies the church-cum-hospital of Sant Antoni that constitutes another new town near where the most northerly of the city gates, the former Portal d’Oluges (or Portal de les Verges) used to stand.
The dedication to Saint Anthony the Abbot is a consequence of the reverence inspired by a relic of the saint taken to Vienne in France which, according to tradition, could cure people suffering from ergotism, or Saint Anthony's Fire. Health care for the poor and sick was also provided at other hospitals such as Castelltort hospital, Hospital de la Vall, Hospital del Miracle and Hospital de les Verges.
