2. Cervera Town Hall

Cervera City Hall, or Paeria, is located on the old market square, the Plaça del Mercat. The former medieval building was located here. The present, late 17th-century building, is the work of the sculptor and architect Francesc Puig, who designed one of the country’s most elegant City Halls.
Access to the ice well is just inside the entrance. It occupies a large part of the square’s subsoil and, at the end of the 18th century, an addition was made to the left of the building, to be used as a prison.
The Paeria contains one of the country’s most complete and interesting collections of royal portraits, while the exterior is notable for its balconies with anthropomorphic brackets.
