5. Call SobirĂ

The establishment of a second Jewish quarter in Carrer del Vent (today known as Carrer del Call), was the direct result of the lack of space in the Jussà Jewish quarter, something that had become very evident during the early 1300s.
The new location led to an interesting debate about the need for a second synagogue or school, a debate that would last for 45 years. The idea had royal permission, but it would not be until 1384 that the Bishop of Vic granted final approval for the works. The new Sobirà quarter also had a bakery and a modest hospital.
