6. Church of Sant Bernat and Santes Creus

The church of Sant Bernat was built on account of the need to administer the ever-growing wealth of the powerful monastery of Santes Creus. Important events have been held in this church: the Catalan Courts, or General Court of Catalonia, in 1359, and in 1469 the signing of the pre-marriage pact between Ferdinand ll of Aragón and Isabella of Castile.
Nearby is the church of Sant Joan de Jerusalem, with the military order’s Maltese cross over the arch of the main doorway.
